DESCRIPTION

Solvent-free, colored epoxy based grout and adhesive mortar for high stressed, acid-resistant installation and grouting of ceramic tiles, corresponding natural stone coverings, glass mosaic, in the light acid based environment, in the swimming pool and therapy pools. As the adhesive mortar Okapox royal can be used on mineral surfaces, steel, wood and similar substrates. Okapox royal meets EN 12004 R2T; its stable consistency allows easy installation and worries free final wash. The 2-component epoxy can be mixed with a variety of different colors (see color chart) to a homogeneous consistency.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

As epoxy mortar:
The substrate must be sound, clean and stable. Particleboard substructures must be tension free. If expecting hydraulic pressure prime the surface with Okapox GF (contact Kiesel technical department for further instructions). Apply the mortar with a notched trowel (see table) onto the surface, slide the tile into adhesive bed and press tightly. For high stress and exterior, installations use the combined butter-floating procedure.

Grouting:
The tiles and the tile edges must be clean and dry. Clean the grout joins from any debris or mortar. Fill the grout mortar with the hard rubber grout float parallel to the tile into the joints and strike off diagonally.
For large surfaces, a grouting machine (such as Hexa 22) is recommended. Re-emulsify surplus grout with a little water and a special pad within 50 minutes and clean with a sponge or sponge board. If necessary, use 1:9 Okamul WH Plus with water to re-emulsify.

Detectable and non-skid ceramic coverings are usually grouted with an epoxy gun. Remaining epoxy residue can be removed (after a minimum curing time of 12 hours) within 24 hours with straight or water diluted Okamul WH Plus at a ratio of 1:1.

PROCESSING

Check the covering material, in particular, check the surface for suitability and observe the instructions from the tile manufacturer. For uniform color consistency use only the same batch number. Before proceeding with grouting, the mortar must be dry. Wait for at least 24 hours before grouting using the thin-set method. Mix Component A and Component B with an electric mixer to a homogeneous mix. Then transfer to another pot, and mix thoroughly again. Okapox royal is a thermosetting product. Therefore, it is recommended to move mixed already epoxy into a new and clean bucket. This method will extend your working time.

The tiles and the tile edges must be clean and dry. Clean the grout joins from any debris or mortar. Fill the grout mortar with hard rubber grout float holding it at 90° angle parallel to the tile into the joints and strike off diagonally leaving as little epoxy grout as possible. Clean tiles immediately after applying Okapox royal. Grout and clean in small areas. Do not attempt to use more than one unit before cleaning tiles. On larger projects working with several teammates is recommended and it will simplify application. Use a non-abrasive white nylon scrub pad wet enough to remove epoxy residue using a circular motion. Be careful to not to remove epoxy grout from the grout joint. After the initial epoxy on the surface of the tile is in a slight liquid state use viscose sponge to perform final cleaning and to create smooth grout joints.
For large surfaces, a grouting machine (such as Hexa 22) is recommended. Re-emulsify surplus grout with a little water and a special pad within 50 minutes and clean with a sponge or sponge board. If necessary, use 1: 9 Okamul WH Plus with water to re-emulsify.

Protect the epoxy grouted joints for minimum 7 days after grouting (general dust, drywall dust, chemical spills, and accidental spills). All these will affect the color consistency and its final integrity. Final chemical cure occurs after 7 days at the temperatures provided in the technical table below.
Detectable and non-skid ceramic coverings are usually grouted with an epoxy gun. Remaining epoxy residue can be removed (after a minimum curing time of 12 hours) within first 24 hours with straight or water diluted Okamul WH Plus at a ratio of 1: 1.

To speed up the reaction/curing time and thus to reduce the waiting time/traffic time add a container of Okapox Accelerator (300 g) to 5 kg Okapox royal. Please note that the reaction, processing and washing time is shortened to approx. 0.5-4 hours.
Follow local/ national specifications regarding swimming pool specifications and installation, floor preparation guidelines located in the latest TTMAC and TCNA installation manuals.
