Peel & stick uncoupling membrane

DITRA-PS brings the benefits of the original DITRA membrane—the multi-tasking underlayment that provides uncoupling, load distribution, waterproofing, and vapor management for durable tile installations—to a convenient peel and stick format. DITRA-PS features a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the backside of the membrane, eliminating the need for thin-set mortar to install the membrane.

DITRA-PS significantly reduces installation time, labor costs, and cleanup

  • Suitable for use with a wide range of substrates, including concrete, OSB (including Advantech), and plywood. It can also be installed over various floor coverings.
  • Available by the roll or by the sheet to accommodate various room sizes
  • DITRA-PS features the same benefits as DITRA, such as easy cut grooves and air release vents at the corners 

FUNCTION

DITRA-PS is a peel and stick membrane that features a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) to bond the membrane to the substrate, replacing the need for thin-set mortar. The -PS version offers the same core functions as DITRA.

MAINTENANCE

Storage: DITRA-PS features a UV sensitive pressure-sensitive adhesive that should not be stored in places with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. The PSA is also temperature sensitive and should be stored in a frost-free environment 41 - 86 °F (5 - 30 °C). If product is exposed to conditions outside of recommended temperature range, product shall be re-acclimated to range for a minimum of 24 hours. The PSA is not water soluble and is free of solvents.

INSTALLATION

All substrates must be clean, even, and load bearing. Bond inhibiting surfaces must be removed prior to the application of DITRA-PS. Note: Type, thickness, and format of the tile or stone surface covering must be suitable for the intended application. Minimum tile format is 2" x 2" (5 cm x 5 cm). 

Applications with tile formats less than 2” x 2” (5 cm x 5 cm) require special considerations, please contact Schluter-Systems Technical Services Representatives at 800-472-4588 (USA) or 800-667-8746 (Canada) for more information regarding installation requirements and warranty eligibility.

1. Remove release liner from DITRA-PS membrane. 

2. Apply peel and stick membrane to the floor, fleece/adhesive side down. Solidly embed the matting into the substrate using a float, screed trowel, or DITRA-ROLLER. Proper installation results in full contact between the adhesive and substrate beneath. 
* When using the DITRA-ROLLER, place a weight (e.g., bags of mortar/grout or box of tile) not to exceed 75 lbs on the DITRA-ROLLER shelf. Slowly move the roller from one end of the matting to the other, slightly overlapping successive passes. 

3. Abut end and side sections of adjacent sheets. 

For optimal performance of peel and stick membranes with difficult-to-bond-to substrates, use Schluter®-PRIMER-PS, Schluter®-PRIMER-U, or other primer suitable for the application.  Refer to Schluter-PRIMER-PS or Schluter-PRIMER-U technical data sheet or contact Schluter-Systems for more information on primer applications.
